The Gilzean crime family was a short lived criminal organization in Gotham City.

History

After being freed from his brainwashing by Theo and Tabitha Galavan, Butch Gilzean betrayed his boss Oswald Cobblepot and set up his own crew. Although they had abandoned him when Victor Zsasz was sent to kill him by Oswald.[1]

Four weeks after the murder of Theo, Oswald is a fugitive on the run from the law. Butch takes over Oswald's criminal operations and becomes the new "King of Gotham". He murders an underling using a drill attached to his hand. Butch is then approached by Tabitha who persuades Butch that they should form a partnership, which he accepts and the pair make out, unaware that they are being watched by Selina Kyle.[2]

Oswald Cobblepot visits Butch Gilzean to make amends. Although Butch forgives him, Tabitha states that he still must be punished. They end up "having some fun" with Cobblepot. At the same time, Butch's nephew Sonny Gilzean has run a magic mushroom ring on his behalf while employing Ivy Pepper to grow them.[3]

When Oswald makes another return to Gotham and has now returned to his old ways, he makes an alliance with Butch to take down a resurrected Theo Galavan (who is now operating as Azrael) after he stabbed and hospitalized Tabitha. The pair manage to finish Theo for good by firing a bazooka at him nearby Wayne Manor, incinerating and killing him.[4]

Oswald and Butch appeared to continue their alliance, although Butch seemed to take orders from Oswald again when he was ordered along with his crew to attack a prison bus apparently containing Hugo Strange.[5]
